When we returned from break, we took up where we left off in our vocabluary and devoted the week to reviewing Units 7-9.
On the week of 1/11: we will begin reviewing Unit 10 culminating with a quiz on Thursday. We will be finishing up "Flowers for Algernon." with a minor writing assignment.

Welcome to Jr. High English language arts and literature class with Ms. Salazar! I am pleased to be the Jr. High Language Arts Teacher at Saint Aloysius, and I feel very fortunate to have your child in my class this year. Together we will explore the standards for 8th grade language arts, writing, and literature.
Jr. High Language Arts is designed to involve the student in applying reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing skills in an independent manner through meaningful interdisciplinary tasks. Students will continue to develop an appreciation for literature through the study of literary elements in classic and contemporary selections. Emphasis is placed on moving from the literal to the abstract in the students’ critical thinking skills and in the use of language.
I want you to know my goals for my students is to develop a love of learning and to become an independent thinker and a lifelong learner. To help reach these goals I have carefully planned my lessons so they are inspirational and interesting at the same time. It important to know that I care deeply about their success in my class.
