Just imagine on a dark, stormy, and windy night, where there are men on a boat; sailing on the sea. Due to the inclement weather, combined with the circumstances of their environment; the men on the boat were obviously terrified. It was at this point where men wondered what would happen next. Just then, they saw a figure within the storm walking on water. At first, the men thought it was a ghost, but it was none other than Jesus Christ Himself! Peter, one of the men on the boat, along with being Jesus Christ’s disciples, asked Jesus to command him onto the water. Jesus said, "Come," and Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water. However, when Peter saw and felt the strong waves, along with the wind, he became afraid. As a result, he began to drown, but Jesus quickly rescued him and asked: “You have so little faith, why do you doubt?” Just than Jesus calmed the storm; by saying the words, “Quiet and be still!” The wind than died down.
The Bible describes problems that the disciples, apostles, and prophets, constantly faced and the challenges they went through. Despite that, they common thing they shared was having faith in Jesus Christ. Just like the leaves that falls during the fall season, we, as people, all fall during hard times. However, by having faith in Jesus Christ, we can rise back up.
Children represent resilience and perseverance. A common metaphor of this is where toddlers trip whenever they run in a playground, but quickly get back up to play; wanting to achieve a goal of having fun and creating a memory of having a good time. As they start a new grade, Prek-4, before transitioning into kindergarten; they will face many challenges that comes with being more independent; however, with caring teachers, loving parents, and most importantly, having Jesus Christ as the ultimate and perfect role model; they shall prosper.
Just like how Peter was scared of the storm and winds that surrounded him as he was walking to Jesus in the water, it shows that having fear is normal. Being scared is okay, but having a lot of faith, makes the storm go away. Jesus Christ’s power surpasses the nature of the world; and even through stormy times, God has got our back. A challenge can be like water, trying to pull you under and drown you in hardships due to having fear; but having faith, can allow one to the surface and swim to great lengths to achieve at what it seems like an impossible goal.
Everyday can be a challenge for everyone; including for our young ones who is always exposed to various changes within our world. This is why it's important to put Jesus Christ first; as His teachings explores on the true definition of love, forgiveness, empathy, and trusting in Him; while overcoming obstacles. This is essential in the Catholic faith; as this faith helps our little ones grow spiritually and mentally; by living according to God's will, and transform their perception of the world that's in line with Jesus' plans.
